Behind the Lens: The Story of Photo Explorers
We inspire children to see the world through the lens of a camera
Harriet, the founder, has been a professional photographer for 15 years in the fashion industry, specialising in portraiture and storytelling through images. She also has a passion for film photography, and her partner Dan often jokes about the shed overflowing with photo negatives.
As a mother of two, Harriet loves sharing her photography passion with her children, who enjoy taking photos alongside her and exploring the creative world of images.
Alongside photography, Harriet teaches yoga and mindfulness through her family wellness brand, The Yogi Fam, helping children and parents alike find calm, focus, and creative expression.
Harriet’s experience teaching young children includes volunteering in Cornwall, where she set up a portable dark room and introduced kids to classic photography techniques such as photograms and pinhole cameras. These hands-on experiences showed her the joy of watching children explore photography in inventive and playful ways, a philosophy that Photo Explorers carries forward today.
At Photo Explorers, we combine structured lessons, fun creative challenges, and a safe, supportive environment to help children discover, click, and create. Whether experimenting with colour, perspective, or storytelling through images, every child leaves with a sense of pride and excitement about their work, and maybe a few creative photo negatives of their own.
